SCHULLER&Company // bocad – 40 years of customers projects !

Laurent Traulé of Launet SA has been using bocad for 20 years to design his projects. For him, it's a user-friendly software package that offers numerous possibilities in the field of steel construction and is constantly evolving with the latest technologies.

Launet, based in Beauvais in France for over 90 years, has developed a system of buildings using cold-formed sections called TONNUS and PROPANNE.

In April 2023, Launet team completed the construction of a building comprising a mechanical assembly workshop and offices for Inoxpa Solutions. The construction of this building presented several challenges: firstly, it was the most complex building in TONNUS / PROPANNE profiles ever built. Then there was the question of weight savings between a cold-formed section frame and a traditional section frame. Finally, the standardization of TONNUS / PROPANNE sections (particularly with regards to drilling), to ensure that as many identical mark numbers as possible would be used to save manufacturing time.

Macros were required for modelling (profile generation, automatic assembly creation), and for deliverables drawings and nc/csv file generation. In collaboration with the bocad team, macros for connections and specific tools for csv lists and outputs were created. Checks on the reversibility of the TONNUS sections making up a structural element, as well as specific marking to TONNUS projects were essential. Each TONNUS section making up an assembly had the same number. Welded sub-assemblies were marked according to Launet standards.
